Hi All
My Daughter started this cross stitch work when we were at Thiruvananthapuram.
We both did it whenever we were free and during long train journeys.
I finished it last year itself. But posting here now only. After giving lining and border once again I will try to post it.
Cross stitch is done on countable even weave cloth called Aida cloth. There are many types of stitches made on this cloth. Common one is doing X type stitches.
First the design has to be selected. After selecting design the next thing to do is to find out the thread colors required for making the chosen design.
The threads have color codes to denote each shade.
The threads are available in Anchor brand and another one is DMC.
In India Anchor threads are generally available.
The threads come in skeins of 8 mts long and with 6 strands.
The design has to be done with 2 or 3 strands and the number of strands needed depends on the size of the Aida cloth holes.
The number of holes for the design is counted and mark is made along the length and breadth of the cloth.
The design is generally started from the center and move outwards.
The completion of a cross stitch design depends on the time spent on it and the size of the design.
